These amps are my latest creations.  The output transformers were made in the 1950's by a New Zealand company called Collier Beale.  I'm sure that I can buy a better new transformers today but these only cost me about $40US for the pair and the frequency response is 20Hz to 20KHz.  Better still, they are made in New Zealand.

The schematic is based on the SDS Labs EL84 Push Pull Amp by Sheldon Stokes.  You can find this at www.quadesl.com.

The EL84's are being pushed quite hard since the plate voltage is 330 volts and the cathode current is 40mA per tube (which equates to a plate dissipation of just under 12 watts).  I've only used a small amount of NFB.  These amps sound quite good with the Quad ESL's.

The finished product!
Here's a closer view of the front and rear....
A view of the underbelly during construction.  You can see (from left to right) the audio section, power supply section, and choke.  The mess of wires sticking out belong to the power transformer and choke.
This is the original schematic (click the thumbnail to view).  I've built a completely different power supply which uses components that I had lying around.  Also, I've made a few changes to the output stage to suit my transformers.  I'll post a revised schematic as time permits....
