rec.games.computer.ultima-dragons FAQ
Revision History

Dates are dd/mm/yy.

1/5/97
Updated UO FAQ link. Added Ultima newsgroup reorg proposal in the newsgroup history and UO sections.

15/4/97
Updated Akalabeth section. Altered Richard Steinberg's entry to reflect the fact that he is no longer at Origin. Added possible solution to Ontrack disk manager problem.

11/4/97
Updated some UO information, removed obsolete beta info etc. The UO FAQ link is no longer working, but I haven't removed it, because a new FAQ will available soon. Incidentally, the stylesheet has been tested on Internet Explorer 3, Netscape Navigator 4, and Emacs-W3 3.0.80 and works beautifully. Trust me, logical markup + stylesheets are the way of the future. Do you realise how difficult this simple presentation would be without a stylesheet?

10/4/97
Performed a spellcheck - Yeah, I know, I should have done that a long time ago, but it's not so easy to spellcheck an HTML document interspersed with proper names, URLs, and abbreviations - I'm not changing "Docs" to "Documentation" just because a spellchecker complains about it.

8/4/97
Added "Why don't you stop fighting?". Added link to IRC Client archive. Added web page for one of the Warcraft Ultima PUDs. Reminder to self: add Origin Disk Exchange info. Updated newsgroup version.

24/1/97-31/1/97
Okay, so I missed my self-imposed deadline for the revision - oh well... I've filled in the blanks, there's a lot changed, so it's probably easier to just read the FAQ if you want to know what's different. Text version now created with Emacs-W3 since it recognises the stylesheet margins, and generally makes the text more attractive (Quite apart from the fact that I don't have Netscape installed any more, and IE does an awful job of saving as text)

23/1/97
Wrote my first Emacs program (Which included learning Emacs lisp) which constructs the index from the body of the FAQ, so I can change section numbers and titles without having to change it in two places. Projects for the future: Automatic renumbering of sections for easy insertion of sections, and automatic generation of the summary.

22/1/97
Determined structure of new FAQ. The most striking difference is a section for each Ultima which will detail cheats specific hints, patches etc. for that Ultima. Essentially, the rest is the same sections jumbled around into (To me, at least) a more logical, and more easily expandable, order. Most of the old Miscellaneous section has gone into a new WWW section. Added style sheet (To web version) which should improve readability on supporting browsers.

16/1/97
Gearing up for major revision, since the structure of the FAQ has been much the same since I first wrote it at 1am on a sleepless night almost 1 year ago - I have learned a lot about FAQ maintainance since that time, and so a major overhaul is needed. I might see if I can have the new version ready for the 1st anaversary. Fixed some gramatical errors, rephrased some sections to make them clearer. Removed some obsolete information, and marked some areas for revision. This version will not be released.

17/11/96
Updated Geo's URLs. Finally updated the auto-posted newsgroup version.

9/11/96
Updated Underworld's URLs (From www.cs.cmu.edu to scott.net).

6/10/96
Lost last lot of updates from a couple of weeks ago. Had to redo them. Haven't updated in a long time, my apologies :-) Anyway, down to business: Added Ultima Runes page. Added another reference to the Ultima Collectibles FAQ in the hope that it is more visible now. Updated U9 release date (Again :-)). Added Dragons' homepages list. Confirmed Quenton's killer (From cluebook). Added Ultima 1-6 CD FAQ. Added U5 and UW2 cheats. Added PUFF/Dragon info. *pant* *pant*.

24/7/96
Updated Ultima Online info, included the FAQs, and the beta test signup info. Added Maxtor drive overlay problem. Added The Ring of Dragons.

?/7/96 (Sorry, forgot to add this one at the time)
Added name pronunciation info, and Encore CD documentation info. Verified a lot of links.

5/6/96
The address of the weyrmount changed from dragon.lei.net:9020 to weyrmount.sensemedia.net:9020 old addresses will continue to work, but are not guaranteed to do so forever. Added "Who Killed Quenton". Revamped that section so that adding new "Frequently Given Hints" is easier.

22/5/96
FAQ now approved for news.answers, look out for it there shortly. Split the Weyrmount section into the Weyrmount/IRC section. Added my meagre knowledge of IRC.

17/5/96
Added headers in readiness for submission for news.groups approval. Since the UOL FAQ seems to have disappeared into the ether, I have revamped the UOL section.

1/5/96
Added link to RGCUD RFD CFV etc. Deletion date of AGUD confirmed by F15 Dragon.

24/04/96
Added new method of solving U2 divide by zero error.

17/04/96
As of now, only the most recent revisions will be listed. The complete history can be found at http://crash.ihug.co.nz/~charlton/andrew/revision.html

16/04/96
Added Underworld 3 to the Future Ultimas section. I will probably move the revision history to another file as soon as I can be bothered. I haven't been keeping it up too much anyway. There have been other sundry changes. Section 8 added.

22/03/96
Mere days after the creation of the new group it already has a FAQ! Was previously the alt.games.ultima.dragons FAQ. If anyone notices any changes I've missed, please contact me.

19/3/96
I plan to add a section on how to get various Ultima stuff. Coming Soon!!!
NOTE:(Added 17/04/96) This is no longer planned, as Underworld Dragon's Ultima Collectibles FAQ does that job nicely.

12/3/96
WE HAVE A WEB SITE!!! This FAQ can now be found at http://crash.ihug.co.nz/~charlton/andrew/rgcudfaq.html.

10/3/96
FINALLY (Cheers echo throughout the internet) added the U8 cheat, so all you who were too lazy to hunt it out for yourself (Just for the record, it took about 15 seconds (Of course I've been promising it since I first wrote this FAQ, so I can hardly chastise anyone for being lazy...)) can cheat to your hearts content.

18/2/96
Sundry Changes. In particular, links to F15s Screenshots, and interview. (Oh yes, and I finished HTMLising some time ago, it doesn't do you any good, of course because I have no web site... Soon, though... I promise!)

7/2/96
Partially HTMLized (No hyperlinks yet), HTML now the base version of the FAQ, text version created from Save As...Text in Netscape, it gives nice bullets and indentations for lists.

4/2/96
Added Win95 help section, credited all FAQs and other info to their respective maintainers. Added extremely witty disclaimer. Getting fairly close to final form.

30/1/96
Inserted section 2. also added cheat mode information.

28/1/96
Hunted out all the URLs, verified them. Other sundry changes, basically finishing the job I started last night. First Posting.

28/1/96 1:14 am (I use DD/MM/YY, sue me!)
This is the first ever copy of this FAQ, I sit here writing this late one night for lack of anything better to do. My reason for writing this is that there are several questions which seem to crop up several times per day, thus I intend to answer those questions in this FAQ, and post it often enough that it will actually cut down on some of these.
