Mine Planning

Background

I have experience of short, medium and long term planning of surface mines using truck/shovel operations and draglines. I also have experience of underground coal mine planning, using longwall and room and pillar methods. Through industrial and academic employment I have gained a broad knowledge of mining methods and have worked at or visited in excess of 100 mining operations, working all major minerals on four continents.

Capabilities

I can offer general mine planning skills relevant to coal mining ( surface and underground ) and surface hard rock mining. I have a sound understanding of rock mechanics ( my Ph.D was in this area ) and I have good familiarity with proprietary mine planning software. I am however very aware that there are numerous other consultants who offer similar skills, and I would therefore identify the following specific areas as those in which I have an uncommonly high level of competence :-
