Mining Technical Services:

Ventilation Analysis

Background

My initial experience was in gained in South African mines, but the majority of my technical skills were acquired during my work as a University Lecturer. There really is no better route to full understanding of this subject than being required to teach it to classes of bright students and experienced mine staff !

Capabilities

I have sound practical experience in mine ventilation, augmented by a good understanding of airflow theory which can be applied to a variety of ventilation systems, including factory and office systems. I can undertake assignments in the fields of  ventilation planning, ventilation surveying / network characterisation, manual and computerised ventilation analysis, psychrometry and network optimisation.

Training in ventilation planning for mine personnel is also offered, in particular a two day course that covers all of the essential basic aspects of air flow theory and its application to practical problems, including use of computer models to simulate and analyse ventilation circuits. This course is suitable for numerate non-engineers who are required to fill a ventilation officer role, or as a refresher course for Mining Engineers.
