Mounted Infantry
-
Should be represented by the element and a horse holder element (V2 allows
you to use a mounted element, if you have more cash than sense and want
to paint another element!!!)
-
Supporting mounted infantry looks like this
Pk or Sp (cos I have a Rus army)
Pk Sp
Pk Ps
Pk HH
HH HH
HH HH
HH
HH
-
They march and flee like Cav(I) or Cam(I) (DBM V2 removes the relevance
of the I)
-
If they make a tactical move or recoil(?) the Horse holder is removed (this
is the one I have the most problems with, I was just coming around to this
point of view when the gem about them fleeing with their horses was added
in)
-
Under DBM2000 Mounted Infantry and Cavalry can move together without paying
the penalty pip. Until they lose their horses (after the first tactical
move)
-
You never have to "dismount" mounted infantry. They mount/ remount/ dismount
for free and it is never actually done in the game. Also remember that
march moves include all moves done farther then 200p away from the enemy
so the mounted infantry will retain their mounts up until that point in
time. (John Shirey)
-
If the move had started at 300p away and they stopped 150p away then of
course its a tactical move. Likewise if they were mounted infantry on horses
and had started 400p way and they stopped at 200p then of course its a
march because they moved at cavalry speed. Also if the mounted infantry
do move 200p then they can't start closer or move closer then 200p from
the enemy. (John Shirey)
-
Mounted Bow cannot 'march' and fire and therefore have to use a 'tactical'
move (and lose the mounts) if they want to move and fire in a bound.

Rich Novak
" After the first round of marching, I never used the nags anyway! The
concept of mounted infantry on the tactical scale is quite limited.A way
of spotting your opponents a few points, when the mounted option is mandatory.
The mounted infantry option for close order ,2 inch movers, is still only
good the first bound, especially as an attacker."
