When I discovered
I was pregnant for the sixth time, I felt I needed support from
friends. The only trouble was I was so involved with my childrens'
lives, I didn't take time to make friends or socialize with
friends. I was a member of Little Treasures Baby Club here in
Auckland (all recipients of LittleTreasures magazine). I read
an article about pregnancy support on the internet and information
about misc.kids.pregnancy (a newsgroup) After a couple of days
reading posts, I heard about the monthly lists. I quickly joined
the May97 List. What a wonderful, amazing group to join!!!!
Together with over 100 other MMs (May Moms- American spelling!),
we lived through the joys and agonies of pregnancy, then birth,
then looking after newborns and now toddlers. I had all the
support I could possibly ever want, and I made the best friends
I have ever made in my life. I love you ladies (and Andy! (-:

I am fortunate to live close to another MM, Diana, also here
in Auckland. Here is a link to pictures from a recent visit

Since joining MMs, I have joined three other little Lists, where
I have made other wonderful friends. A triumvirate of MMs started
a List called THE KITCHEN, and what fun it is to be part of
this List!! In the Kitchen, you feel comfortable to talk about
anything and everything! Sometimes the talk is serious and responses
can be warm and empathic. Other times, the banter is light-hearted
and exceptionally entertaining!! Love you Kitchenettes!! If

Since having Makene, my May baby, I have found another List
with May97 mothers! This List is much smaller, but what a lot
of friends I have made since joining. One of my new friends,
Heather, who lives in Melbourne, visited me here in Auckland.

I have found a group of friends on a List called post-pgap.
All of us try to practise Attachment Parenting in some form.
I felt at home with the group as we had a HUGE family bed for
a long time, I have breastfed for 8.5 years of my life, and
I do believe that my children are the most important things
in my life. I am not a strictly AP parent as I do vaccinate
my children, etc. But I do love my AP friends! I am also on
a teeny-tiny mymaymoms List with Carol and some of her friends,
but the mail volume is very low. Still, I love you guys too!
